Let’s Get This party Started …
As with bachelor and bachelorette parties, bridal showers often involve a bit of booze. A little bit of the sauce can be a great way to loosen things up, especially since a bride-to-be may have different friends and co-workers whom do not know one another attending the bridal shower. Here are a couple of great ways to kick off the party.
Bride Wisdom Cocktails – If you are in charge of planning the event, you most likely know the bride-to-be fairly well. Use this wisdom to design some fun drinks that are bride specific. It’s actually pretty easy. What are her favorite fruits, colors, etc? Something as simple as frozen garnishes of the bride’s favorite fruits can really personalize this aspect of the bridal shower for her and it lets her know you put some thought into this thing! If you are stuck, share some of your bride wisdom with your favorite bartender. They will be happy to give you some awesome ideas that reflect what you told them about the bride-to-be.
Surprise Champagne – While setting up the champagne flutes, neatly add a drop or two of flavorless coloring to the bottom of the glass. Mix it up by using various different colors (now-a-days there are some really cool blues, violets, pinks, and reds, etc.) When the attendees pour themselves their glass of champagne, they get a surprise color! This really makes the first rounds served a lot of fun, because it isn’t expected and everyone is walking around the room with different colors of bubbly.
Magnificent Mimosa Bar – Who doesn’t like mimosas? You can set up a beautiful little mimosa nook with various flavored liquors like Chambord (raspberry liquor), Midori (melon liquor), Pochteca (blackberry liquor), XuXu (strawberry liquor), Cassis (currant liquor), or 99 Berries and fresh fruits for the guests and bride-to-be to create and garnish delicious mimosas exactly to their liking. Some great fruits to use are strawberries, raspberries and blackberries, pineapple, mango, and pomegranate. Remember to try to include your guest of honor’s favorite fruits here. If she loves strawberries, make the strawberries the center piece. Set up extra decorations around them and do various garnish cuts (whole, fanned, sliced).
Just by putting a little bit of thought and effort into the drinks that you are serving, you can make the bridal shower much more fun and interesting, plus really showcase why you are planning the bride-to-be’s affairs without breaking the bank!
