Effortless Boho Waves

This little trick will give you those celebrity-like effortless looking boho curls in just 15 minutes! When you see the mermaid-ish waves of great boho hair, it seems like a daunting task, but you’ll master this trick and be putting the likes of Selena Gomez and Rachel Zoe to shame in no time!

Tools for this project: 1″ Curling Iron, 10-15 minutes, a bit of hair.

Wrap sections of hair around your curling iron (starting from the middle of the strands) of varying sizes so that the waves won’t look uniform. Heat each section all of the way through, but instead of immediately moving on to the next section of hair, stretch out the piece that you just curled so that it is straight while the section cools. This will soften the curl into a beach-worthy wave. It is a good idea to leave the ends unheated, which just adds to that effortless look that boho is all about. Continue heating the different sized sections and pulling the hair taut as it cools until your whole head is done. Almost instant boho!

Tip – This hairstyle can look even better after a day or two … a bit of messiness only enhances this carefree look. Just apply some argon oil to the tips to help keep the ends looking great.

#2 The Fastest Updo Ever

This great updo can be done in just 20 seconds after a little practice! It is so simple, yet it looks like you put some serious effort into your hair. Just comb your hair out and part it into two ponytails at the back of your head (almost like pigtails). Twist one tail around the and loop it back under and through. Repeat this process. You are basically going for an elegant granny-knot, but instead of just tieing a knot, you want to twist the tails first. After you have your double-twisted knot, use a bobby pin to secure the section of hair that is coming up and out of the knot so that it can’t slip out through the bottom. If the hair coming up out of the knot looks a bit messy, you can pin it further and hide it with a decorative clip.

#3 Quick & Professional

If you work in the professional sector and need a fast way to professionally style your medium to long hair, this one is for you.

First, comb the hair on the top of your head (around the crown) up like you are going to put it into a ponytail, but spray it with A LOT of hairspray then back-comb it thoroughly.

Next, create a ponytail (with all of your hair) as high as possible on your head. Use a hair tie to secure the ponytail, but you’ll be putting the tie on a couple of inches above your scalp. Be sure to double or triple tighten the band so that it is very tightly wrapped around your hair.

Now, try to find the center and underneath from the back, close to your scalp, push your first two fingers through your hair (underneath the hairband) and out of the front side. Flip the ponytail forward so that you can grab the end of the tail with the same fingers that are pushed through your hair and then pull the tip of the tail back underneath itself through the hole you created so that it is sticking a few inches out of the back.

Tighten the ponytail down to your scalp by pulling on the base. You should now have a pretty decent bun, but there may be som V-shaped irregularities at the front. Just pull the hair forward and adjust as needed to make the bun nice and round, then secure the shape with bobby pins. If you want a very shaped, professional look, you can hit the bun with some hairspray to get any flyaways under control. Get more photos of this great updo here.
