New Year, New Hair Pt. 1 | Charleston Hair Salon
Round the New Year, many of us go through a period of physical transformation … or, at least, this weird, deeply-rooted urge to change some things up a bit. It might be left over ‘uck-feelings’ from the holiday binge eating or it maybe all of that talk of resolutions. Either way, we feel should make some life-changes, and for many, this starts with our style – ie, our hair and makeup and our wardrobe.
As you just read that first paragraph of this post, it probably just dawned on you … “Holy crap. It’s already February; a full month into 2016!” And you haven’t even shaped up the mop-up-top … it’s time for a visit to the hair salon, but what can you do for a change this year?
The Year of You; The Year of the Hair Stylist
The last couple of years have seen a lot of the carefree, beach-like styles, and though we are still likely to see these hairstyles coming fresh out hair salons all over the world, we are seeing a new surge of woman-empowerment. Ladies are really starting to carve out their place in the ‘Man’s Man’ professional world. So 2016 will be all about getting the right cut for your texture –that fits your face, personality, and lifestyle. The woman of this year will want to look beautiful and well put together, yet not be made subject to styling her hair.
This right cut will let even those who believe it is impossible to achieve great air-dried hair, do just that! What this will take is a bad-ass hair stylist (most likely at your favorite hair salon) and a little bit of know-thy-self.
With a little bit of self-examination and the help of a great stylist, you can get a custom-tailored hair cut that works with your texture and lifestyle so that you don’t fight your hair every day, but have hair that works with you … and draws you lovingly towards beauty day in and day out!

Thick & Curly Geometry
For those who have thick, curly, or tight & kinky hair, 2016 will be the year to do the dont’s! Asymmetrical shapes, especially triangular shapes and built-up blunt cuts (that people would steer clear of in recent past) could see a massive resurgence. These cuts fit well with the modern woman who has a bold, yet artistic personality and isn’t afraid to break free from the mold.
Ladies (and guys) that have naturally textured hair can take advantage of a stylist’s ability to shape and build on their hair, creating striking, deco-modern styles!
Stay tuned for Part #2 of New Year, New Hair, later this week!
