Winter Wedding Ideas

As one of the top Hair Salons in Charleston, we handle a lot of wedding hair and makeup for a lot of brides-to-be … and their friends. Needless to say, we’ve been to a lot of weddings!

So, just because it is full-on frigid season, doesn’t mean that you can’t plan a hot winter wedding! Here are a few Winter Wedding ideas.

Winter Weddings are not nearly as common as summer or spring events. So this gives the people involved in your wedding event a chance to really get creative and use their imaginations. Even though you can’t go wrong with things like, frosted glasses and dishes, a pianist playing background music, pinecones, and wreaths … everyone from the pastry chef, to the caterer, to your bridal hair and makeup artists, can come up with winter-themed unique twists that are little-seen in the wedding world. So, don’t be shy, ask them!

The Drinks

Of course, Hot Chocolate and Apple Cider are infallible and should be served, but consider a Winter Cocktail Hour and serve cocktails such as Hotty Totties, Irish Coffee, Hot Buttered Rum, etc. Hire a killer bartender and ask them to create special-edition wedding versions of these types of drinks.

The Centerpieces

What you’ll most likely want to do is heighten the warmth in the room. Frosted China coupled with glowing candles and warm flowers like, roses, atis, amaryllis, anemones, calla lilies, and trachelium can make for beautiful, room-warming arrangements.

The Music

Yes, we said earlier that a Piano-man was a sure-fire hit … but come on … we can be more creative than that … what about a cellist playing wintery riffs or even an Acapella group humming your favorite songs in the background?

The Colors

You might want to go red and green … but this can come off a bit too Christmassy. Try the less is more approach, whites and silvers are fool-proof, but you can throw in some icy-blues to really set things off.

Managing The Elements

Man, it is cold outside, but that doesn’t mean that there are not some incredible photo opportunities to be had. So, you have to keep the elements in mind when considering your dress. Make sure that you find an overcoat or beautiful, thick shawl that fits wonderfully with your wedding dress. This way you can take advantage of the winter colors and outdoor natural lighting.

A Wonderful Winter Wedding

By thinking outside of the wedding box a little bit, you can create a show-stopping, never-seen-before type of wedding in the winter months.
