5 Tips for Using Dry Shampoo

It’s recommended that you wash your hair every 2-3 days.

But, are you someone who’s luscious locks simply look lackluster after just one day?

The answer is dry shampoo! This little trick is incredibly convenient but only if you know how to use it properly.

Take the suggestions in this guide for using dry shampoo like a salon professional.

1. Choose a Good Quality Brand

Buying the right brand will result in a head of hair that looks fresh, clean and not at all greasy.

However, if you choose something which is cheap, your hair can look grey or too dry.

Speak to your hairstylist about their preferred brand, or read reviews online before you put down any money.

Another factor to consider is whether your product has been tested on animals. Choose a cruelty-free product for guilt-free haircare.

2. Don’t Use Too Much

Remember, you can always add more but it’s difficult to take the excess away! Start by positioning your dry shampoo spray about three inches away from your head.

Then, spray gently for a second over the roots of your hair. Put the spray down and run your fingers through your hair.

Do you need more? Start this process again after a couple of minutes to ensure the spray has had time to settle.

3. Don’t Use it Everyday

Dry shampoo is brilliant for the days where your hair is looking a little greasy. But, if you haven’t washed your hair in three days, it’s time to hop in the shower.

Think of this product as a once between washes tool. It doesn’t need to be applied too often as it will block your hair follicles.

Furthermore, if you leave it in for too long and don’t wash it out, you’ll be causing it to build up and this will also block your hair follicles.

4. Apply It the Night Before

A great tip is to apply your dry shampoo the night before. This means it’ll soak up the oils in your hair overnight and you won’t wake up with a greasy head.

Simply tie your hair up overnight (which you should be doing anyway!) and voila.

In the morning, you’ll need to brush your hair or massage the product in with your fingers. If you still notice oil, add a little extra dry shampoo.

Then, you’ll have time to style your hair and make it look great using curlers or straighteners!

5. Choose the Right Shade of Dry Shampoo

As well as buying a quality product, it’s important to choose a shade that is right for your hair.

Sadly, if your flatmate has blond hair and you’re a brunette, borrowing their dry shampoo won’t work.

You’ll need to invest in a product that suits your hair so that it doesn’t result in a discolored look.

Dry Shampoo Will Save You Time

If you’re someone who loves sleep more than you love trying out a new hairstyle, this product will be a savior, especially as it can be applied the night before.

Simply just get out of bed, check the oil levels, figure out what to wear and you’re ready to walk out the door.

One of the best ways to ensure your hair looks great for longer is to get a professional cut and blowdry. Check out our salon website for appointments.
