More Great Hair Tips from Gibson Hair and Makeup

Like we stated in the previous article, the absolute best tip, is visit your favorite hair salon for regular trims.

#1 – Silk Slays

You probably didn’t know this, but the majority of women (and men) have a moisture-sucking vampire wreaking havoc on their hair and skin every single night. You thought that your soft, 300 hundred thread count cotton pillowcase was benign … well, it isn’t. The cotton itself wicks away moisture from your face and hair … making your daily hair and makeup routine much harder than it ought to be. Your current cotton pillowcase is the monster behind your morning bed-head and is also one of the main culprits behind your split ends. It is time to make the switch to Satin or silk, which is so much better for your skin and hair. You entire head will thank you and repay in dividends once those countless nights start adding up!

Most of us have been using bobby pins incorrectly our entire lives – I am not quite sure as to why this incorrect information is passed down from generation to generation. We generally use a bobby pin by using the flat side to slip under our hair and use the little, upturned angle on the wavy side to be able to lift it with our fingertip and slide the pin over that area of hair, when in fact, it is the wavy side that is meant to be down. Not only does having the flat side up look much better in areas where the pins are exposed, but the wavy side is designed to be down so that it grabs the hair better.

#3 – Toothbrushes Aren’t Just For Teeth

Keep an extra toothbrush around – that you don’t ever use on your on your teeth of for cleaning the base of the toilet – in case of flyaways. There are so many days that our hairstyle absolutely does not call for hairspray, but those darn wild wisps force us into blasting the hair around the front of our head with spray, taking away from the soft, free look we were going for. Instead, just hit the toothbrush with the hairspray and comb those pesky flyaways into place!

#4 – No More Clogged Drain

Most of us never even have the idea of brushing before we hop in the shower pass through our heads, but it is actually a good idea. Most of us lose quite a lot of hair while pulling our fingers through it in the shower. If you brush prior to showering, you’ll be removing much of the hair that would otherwise go down the drain … only to need to be removed later.
