4 Fun Halloween Hair Ideas

The best Charleston, SC hair salons know that Halloween is all about fun! Whether you have a big party planned, or you are just handing out candy after taking your kids trick or treating, it’s one of the most enjoyable parts of the holiday to dress up a little (or a lot). One way to save a bit of time and money on a costume but still “dress up” is to use your hair as all or most of your costume. Here are a few spooky ideas for how to wear your hair when you go out for tricks or treats.

Snakes and Spiders

Pick up a few small cheap rubber snakes or spider rings and place them strategically in your hair. This works best if you first put your hair in a messy bun on top of your head. There will be all kinds of places the snakes and spiders will naturally weave through your bun. While you can use this for something more specific like Medusa, you can also just be the lady with snakes or spiders in her hair. The kids coming to your house will love it.

Crazy Braids!

Bring back the Pippi Longstocking look with wire in your braids. Simply make two ponytail braids woven around a piece of wire. Now your braids will bend up or in any shape you want. Put exaggerated ribbons or bows at the end of the braids. Use mascara to give yourself a few freckles, and you are ready to party.

Add Some Ears

This is so simple, but is a perfect solution if you want a low-key costume but still want to participate in the fun. A set of animal ears is easy to come by this time of year. Pick your favorite critter whether you want to be a cat, bunny, mouse, or tiger. This look is also a blast if you make your hair really big by teasing it up and getting it kind of messy for a wild look. For added points, draw on a nose and whiskers.

Something Sweet

Start by putting your hair in two ponytails. Cut holes on the bottom of two cupcake wrappers and thread the ponytails through so the wrappers sit on the side of your head. Fix the ponytails into two buns inside the wrappers. It will look like two cupcakes on each side of your head. Get some pink hair spray and spray just the buns. Find appropriate barrettes or pom poms to look like a cherry or cupcake topper and bobby pin it on top of the bun.

Halloween is a great time to have fun with your hair. Try one of these spooky hairstyles at home, or if you have on party planned or are short on time, make an appointment with Charleston, SC hair salons to help you get started in the right direction.
